First approved test package for C-V2X modules

R&S GCF-approved test package for C-V2X module
Rohde & Schwarz has received approval for its Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) test system from the Global Certification Forum (GCF). The test package contains test cases prioritized by GCF, based on tests performed with the CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester and the SMBV100A vector signal generator.

The GCF is an industry recognized organization that mobile network operators rely on to certify the compliance of mobile devices. For network operators, such an approval means that mobile devices can function in accordance with the specifications with the wide variety of network infrastructure.

The certification focuses in particular on LTE sidelink, an adaptation of LTE core standards specified in 3GPP Release 14 that enables direct communication between two or more devices in the short range. This can be made available in any LTE band where the 5.9 GHz band has been allocated to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) services.

According to Rohde & Schwarz, it is the first measurement technology manufacturer to meet the Test Platform Approval Criteria (TPAC) for C-V2V protocol conformance tests. The certified solution comprises established hardware platforms from Rohde & Schwarz and additional software. The R&S CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester supports the LTE-A and WCDMA/HSPA+ mobile radio standards and performs LTE sidelink function tests on the communication link to the C-V2X module. The R&S SMBV100A vector signal generator simulates the signals of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. The GCF-approved protocol tests are performed with the R&S CMW-KK550 software package.
