The company, which traces its roots back to the orginal Wright brothers, recently acquired Teletronics Technology in Newtown, Pennsylvania and is merging this with the ACRA business unit in Dublin, Ireland.
With the merger of the two business units, the company says it supports more aerospace flight test customers, platforms, and programs than any other company around the world. The mergier will also allow an expansion of customer support for larger system-level instrumentation.
ACRA supplies data acquisition units (DAU), gateways, transceivers, recorders, cameras, managers, and switches. The merger will allow new technolgies such as the NSW-16GT-1 optical 16-Port 10 Gigabit Airborne Network Switch (introduced at the Army Aviation Mission Solutions Summit in April, 2017) and the ADSR-4003 Airborne Data Acquisition and Networked Instrumentation Recorder (introduced at ETTC 2017) to be used. The deal will also accelerate development of the next-generation Axon compact Flight Test DAU and a new family of 10 Gigabit data recorders.
“We are very proud to have established the aerospace industry’s number one supplier of system-level data acquisition solutions through the integration of our Teletronics and ACRA business units,” said Lynn Bamford, the US-based Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Defense Solutions division at Curtiss-Wright. “Working together, these two businesses, with their combined resources, enable us to satisfy every commercial and military flight test application opportunity around the world, no matter what the platform, whether for testing aircraft, missiles, or space vehicle. Our increased strength will speed and support product development while enabling us to expand our reach into new emerging technologies.”
The Defense Solutions division was created in 2014 from a number of other acquisitions including Dy4 Systems, VISTA Controls, Lau Defense Systems, Parvus and Ixthus. ACRA Control in Dublin was acquired back in 2011 as part of the Motion Control segment of Curtiss-Wright, beofre becoming part of the Defense Solutions division.
